Setback & Disasters

Posted in Miscellaneous on October 25, 2005 by coryangennet

Wow, the last few days have been really crappy! We played our first-round playoff game on Saturday and we were up 29-26 with like 3 seconds left and they scored right at the end. The whole game was bullshit though, the refs were assholes. We should’ve won but we didn’t so now football is over.

Another mess up was that last weekend some of my friends decided to go drinking and someone told someone else and the principle found out so now 6 of my friends got 6 weeks of no extracurricular activities which also means that their parents grounded for like, a year. This is especially shitty because I was gonna ask out one of the girls that got it and now I won’t even be able to hang out with her for a month — December 6th… starting the countdown — so that’s pretty friggin gay. Yeah, and that Slipknot concert we were going to almost got derailed because the other two guys I was going with were involved but the one that was driving talked to his mom and she talked to my mom so now I can go which is friggin awesome.

So yeah, this week has been pretty shitty. I just hope it gets better.

P.S. – Thanks to Alex of Unfortunate Blog for helping me actually start adding to my blog more than every three months, thanks Alex.

Doom

Posted in Movie Reviews on October 25, 2005 by coryangennet

Title: Doom

Staring Actor(s)/Actress(es): The Rock, Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike, Ben Daniels, Razaaq Adoti, Richard Brake , Al Weaver , Dexter Fletcher

Genre: Action

Status: In Theaters Now

Plot Summary: A group of soldiers are called to a remote research center on Mars to discover what happened to six scientists there. When they get there they discover something, possibly genetically, happened and it’s they’re job to stop it no matter what.

Review: This was actually a great movie. I wasn’t expecting much because I’m usually not a fan of Sci-Fi/Action flicks but it wasn’t so bad. The “monsters” looked a little odd and sort of Alien like but they weren’t cheesy. The story was interesting, the dialog was quite flat, but the action was good. I went with a friend who has played the PC game it was based on and he said it wasn’t too much like the game, which may disappoint some, but I’ve never played it so it was enjoyable. The somewhat twist at the end was quite unexpected, aswell.

Playoffs & Other Things

Posted in Miscellaneous on October 19, 2005 by coryangennet

Among other things, our football team is now in the playoffs. We play our first game on Saturday at 1:30 against Wyndmere-Lidgerwood. They’ve only lost twice this season so it’s gonna be a tough game.

School sucks, but I’m not doing that bad in anything. I should probably do more Math homework cuz I’m getting like a C+ but it’s still not bad.

I’m not signed up for two trips at the beginning of next summer. Our church is taking a trip to Denver on the 11th of June, like 4 days after I get back from Spain! Yeah, I’m going to Spain as a school thing. I need to raise around $2,500 – $3000 to pay both off so I need a job. When football is over I plan to get a job at ALCO: Discount Store. My friend and sister work there and say it’s pretty easy and fun.

I’m selling my (3rd Generation) iPod to a kid at my school for $100 and saving up for a new, video-compatible one. They’re so nice.

I have a date for prom already, I asked a girl that I like cuz me and friend have liked her for a while and it wasn’t really going anywhere but we’ve been really close lately so she said yes… that’s nice too.

On November 13th, (my sister’s birthday, no less) I’m going to a concert in Minneapolis with some friends. The line-up is Unearth and As I Lay Dying (who I’ve seen live and aren’t that good but still fun) opening up for SLIPKNOT! I pee my pants just thinking about it. So it’s just me and some friends driving down and staying with one’s parents.

Since it’s been like, what, 3 months since my last “Graphic of the Week” I suppose I’ll update it. I’m changing the title to Featured Graphic so it’s more fitting to my, add-a-blog-when-I’m-bored style.

Into the Blue

Title: Into the Blue

Staring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Jessica Alba, Paul Walker, Scott Caan, Ashley Scott, Josh Brolin

Genre: Action

Plot Summary: Sam (Alba) and Jared (Walker) are just simpltons that live in the Bahama’s. They both love to dive and when their buddy, Bryce (Caan) – along with this new “friend” Amanda (Scott) – show up the want to show them a good time. As they are diving they come across what appears to be a shipwreck along with another sort of wreck, involving drugs. They find themselves caught in a war of drugs and burried treasure and they have to find thier way out.

Review: I didn’t really want to see this movie from other reviews I’ve read, but it actually wasn’t so horrible. Granted I probably wouldn’t watch it again, it had it’s moments. The story was pretty interesting but watching Jessica Alba and Paul Walker hold their breaths for unimaginable amounts of time was getting to me. There were a few interesting twists that helped the weak acting from Paul Walker but all-in-all it wasn’t that bad.
