Title: The Devil’s Rejects

Staring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon Zombie, William Forsythe, Ken Foree

Genre: Thriller / Horror

Status: Out on DVD/Video

Plot Summary: Rob Zombie has done it again. A sequel to House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects follows the path of the 3 remaining members of a psychopathic family traveling to a hide-out after the cops raid their home, leaving multiple dead in their path. And a lone sheriff is out for more than just capturing them.

Review: I can’t say this was one of my favorite movies ever. I really didn’t like the first, but this one was a bit better. There were less epileptic flashes like the first but it was much gorier. The plot was sort of interesting but picked up a lot in the end. I think one of the only reasons I really liked it was because the family, though quite gross and evil, were funny and there was a lot of comedy in it. I didn’t flat out hate it because I do have a very openness when it comes to weird movie genres and such but I wouldn’t really suggest this movie to many. I think it’s one of those movies that have a very selective audience and most people don’t really fit that group.

Saw II

Title: Saw II

Staring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Donnie Wahlberg, Shawnee Smith, Tobin Bell, Erik Knudsen

Genre: Thriller / Horror

Status: In theaters now

Plot Summary: Ol’ Jigsaw is at it again. He’s trapped a group of people in a house rigged with multiple traps. It is their job to find their way to survive before they die from inhaling too much nerve gas.

Review: I loved this movie! Completely and utterly loved it! I liked the first one a lot but after seeing it again I realized that the acting was less than mediocre but this one made a major jump. I like the fact that there’s a whole house for the people to uncover clues in, instead of a single room where both are held to one spot, like the first. The gore is not for everyone but it actually wasn’t as bad as I expected. A few parts made me cringe in my seat but I love that and it just made the movie that much more enjoyable. I would suggest this movie to anyone. Especially ones who like movies with crazy twists at the end.

Drama up the Wazzu

Posted in Miscellaneous on November 19, 2005 by coryangennet

Well the title says it all, drama up the wazzu. I don’t think there has ever been this much drama in my life ever and I’m not even supposed to be a part of some of it. Well let’s start with my friend’s past relationship and how that all went down.

So his girlfriend comes to me and tells me she’s gonna break up with him and tells me why and it was reasons I could understand. However, she said that the next day she was gonna go see this other guy that she liked a while ago and the way it sounded was that it was the sole reason of her trip which pissed me and my friends off. Now my friend was a drinker/smoker and not a great student but when he was dating this girl he stopped smoking and drinking for the most part and studied a lot more because she would help him. So after she broke up with him he got really wasted that night and started smoking again, he also told a girl that he was screwed for a quiz because he always studied with her. This, however made her think that he was just a big fake and she got mad so now I am trying to show both of them that they were both wrong and that they shouldn’t be mad at each other and be friends.

Then there’s my situation. So there was a huge drama-fest this summer with me and friend who liked the same girl. Now about 3 weeks ago she told my friend that they should just stick to being friends and she started acting a lot like she liked me more so I asked her out two weeks ago. She said so now we’re going out but my friend will not back off. He still talks to her like he likes her (because I know he does, and that’s understandable) but I just think he needs to back off. Now I’m mad at my friend for not backing off but I haven’t told him yet and I’m not mad, but confused with my girlfriend because she is still acting like she still likes him a little bit and whenever we’re with him in the room she gets really weird. So now I need to talk to my friend about it which is either going to make him really mad at me or just sit at home like a hermit and have tons of people mad at me for doing it. I tried to tell this to my girlfriend but she didn’t get it and just thought I was being jealous, which is somewhat true, but she should still be able to see it.

So right now I have two things I want to do. I want to sit my friend and his ex down and tell them everything that really happened and what it really meant. I also want to sit down with my girlfriend and my friend to tell them both how I’m feeling and to see what’s going on.

Drama sucks, I hate high school.

Fun & Good Times

Posted in Miscellaneous on November 15, 2005 by coryangennet

Unlike my last real blog entry entitled Setbacks and Disasters, my situation has much improved! The first quarter (9 weeks) of school is over and I made the B Honor Roll (at least, I haven’t actually checked) which is the least I’m trying to do because I want to stay on National Honor Society. Everything in school is going pretty darn good actually.

However, I missed school yesterday because I was coming back from Minneapolis and a Slipknot concert! Hell yeah, I finally fulfilled my goal of seeing Slipknot live. Me and my friend Dana were up in the balcony of the Roy Wilkins’ Auditorium so it wasn’t as fun as it could’ve been but it was still fricken amazing. We stayed with Dana’s parents in their (nice!) house in St. Michael. On Saturday we went to the Mall of America where I spent $318.44 on a brand new, 30GB Apple iPod Video! It’s so nice but my mom found out that I spent that much and she was a little mad since I should be saving up for Spain. On the way home we told a girl in my class that I was body-surfing and I broke my arm so they were all scared but I went to school today and showed them all I was fine and most laughed but some were mad that I scared them.

I applied at ALCO — Discount Store today so hopefully I will start collecting more money to save up plus today my mom and I went and cashed in about $500 worth of savings bonds that I’ve had saved up so I can make my first payment towards Spain. And finally, but not the least at all, I finally got a girlfriend. The whole drama filled story of me and my friend and this girl finally worked out and I got her so that’s awesome! Although I do sort of feel bad for my friend, but, eh.

Well that’s all for now, I’ll try to keep this updated but who knows, until next time…

House of Wax

Title: House of Wax

Staring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Brian Van Holt, Paris Hilton, Jared Padalecki, Jon Abrahams, Robert Ri’chard

Genre: Thriller / Horror

Status: Out on DVD/Video

Plot Summary: A group of college students, on the way to a football game, stop and camp for the night. After having some “car trouble” some walk to a nearby town where something isn’t quite right. At the very center of the town is the world famous House of Wax where the statues look a little too real.

Review: Despite this movie getting bad reviews, I thought it was quite good. The effects were amazing and the violence/action was great. I guess the fact that it was another “college-kids-slasher” type movie reduced its quality a little but I would have to say that it was one of the better as of late. It was a re-make of an older version that I haven’t seen, but I think that this one was much more gruesome. I guess I’d have to say the only thing I really didn’t like was some of the predictability in it. I mean the whole “Let’s split up to find them faster” and when they go into a weird house and the one person always has to snoop around, and you can’t forget the ‘looking-in-the-mirror-to-see-someone-behind-you’ trick. But of course you have to have some “cheap scares” in all movies that just make you jump for the fun of it. All in all it was quite good and I would recommend it to my friends.
