Title: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

Starring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Robert Downey Jr., Val Kilmer, Michelle Monaghan, Corbin Bernsen

Genre: Action/Comdey

Status: Out on DVD

DVDPlot Summary: When Harry (Downey), a petty thief, gets mistaken for an actor he is flown to L.A. He meets up with a private investigator, Perry (Kilmer), and his long lost sweetheart, Harmony (Monaghan). However, he finds a lot more than just an audition.

Review: This one is kind of old, actually. I rented it a long time ago but never got around to watching it until now. I liked it a lot. Robert Downey Jr. is quite funny in this one, and Val Kilmer is very good at being a smart-ass. There was really no pause in the story line; there was almost always something interesting happening. There were times scenes that seemed to be a little more elaborated on than they should’ve been, and some seemed a little too far-fetched. But hey, what are movies for anyway? The ending of the story was great, the ending of the film, however, was sub par. Overall it was a good one. It was one of those that I’m glad I watched alone, because my friends are kind of retarded when it comes to watching movies that break the norm, but there are a few that would like this one.

Rating: 4.5/5

Title: School for Scoundrels

Starring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Heder, Jacinda Barrett, Matt Walsh, Horatio Sanz, Todd Louiso, Sarah Silverman

Genre: Comdey

Status: Out on DVD

DVDPlot Summary: Roger (Heder) is a loser. He signs up for a class to help him get the girl of his dreams. The only problem is that his teacher is starting to make it a lot harder by going after the same girl.

Review: Hitch on Crack. That’s how I’d describe this one. I did, however, think it was very well done. There was a lot of comedy, which is a good thing considering it’s a comedic movie. At some points it got a little boring, but it was never too long of a stretch. It had a really good ending with some nicely placed twists.

Ghost Rider

Title: Ghost Rider

Starring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Peter Fonda, Wes Bentley, Sam Elliott

Genre: Action

Status: In Theaters Now

DVDPlot Summary: Johnny Blaze (Cage) makes a deal with the devil to save his dad, but he risks more than losing his soul, he loses the love of his life Roxanne (Mendes). Now, many years later, Mephistopheles (Fonda) has come to summon Blaze to stop Blackheart, a demon.

Review: Not what I was expecting, and not in a good way. I can honestly say that the choice of Nicolas Cage for the part of Johnny Blaze was a bad idea. He doesn’t seem like the kind of person to play this role, period. There were too many action-movie clichés in this one, and some of the effects were just a little too much. All of the people Blackheart’s entourage of demons was just stupid. I think that if I could go back in time I would go back and tell the casting director to get some serious psychological help, and let me do it. The storyline was good and the action, however nonexistent for most of the movie, was pretty decent. The only thing that really kept me remotely interested in this movie was Eva Mendes.

Smokin’ Aces

Title: Smokin’ Aces

Starring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Ryan Reynolds, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Ben Affleck, Alicia Keys, Andy Garcia

Genre: Action

Status: In Theaters Now

DVDPlot Summary: Buddy Israel (Piven) is a Las Vegas illusionist that gets mixed up in mob business. Now there are a lot of people that want him dead, and it’s up to Agents Carruthers (Liotta) and Messner (Reynolds) to stop it.

Review: It wasn’t really what I was expecting out of it, but it was still pretty good. The action started pretty quick and was pretty non-stop throughout the movie. The diversity of the characters of the hit men (or hit people I should say) were interesting. There are some interesting things and twists that happen that I really didn’t expect, which is always good. This is another one that I would suggest to action fans. I have some friends that are big Ryan Reynolds fans (as am I) but if you go to see him be funny, don’t waste your time. This was one of the most serious rolls I’ve seen him in, but he pulled it off pretty nicely. Overall, it wasn’t what I expected, but it wasn’t bad
