Date/Time: Friday, August 03, 2007 @ 8:00

Venue: The Venue @ Playmaker’s Pavilion, Fargo, ND

Genre: Metal / Psychedelic

Summary: A weird start, but ended up being one of the best concerts I’ve been to. Once again, however, one of the bands couldn’t make it. I didn’t know who they were in the first place, but it would’ve been nice to see them anyway.

Dirty Little Rabbits: I don’t really know how to even describe this band’s sound. I think the most accurate way to say it is No Doubt and a lot of drugs. It was interesting, but unless you were tripping on something, it didn’t really work. The musicians were awesome (Clown from Slipknot is the drummer, hence the connection with Stone Sour). The singing, however, is what ruined it. Stella Katsoudas, the singer, had a high pitched, creepy kind of voice that would’ve been great if they were singing the theme song to some creepy horror movie, but not for a metal concert. Overall they were alright, but it just wasn’t the kind of band I’d expect with Stone Sour.

Stone Sour Corey Taylor (vocals) never ceases to amaze me. He’s a great front man, and always gets the crowd even more into it. The whole set was awesome. They played a lot of stuff from both their new album Come What(ever) May, and their first, self-titled, album. I was actually very happy with the selections from each. Not to mention Corey’s rendition of Sweet Home Alabama North Dakota. I think he likes playing in smaller, mid-west venues. Stone Sour is a great band, I’m very happy to have had the chance to see them live. Now I just need another shot to see Slipknot up close.
