Title: Live Free or Die Hard

Starring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Bruce Willis, Justin Long, Timothy Olyphant

Genre: Action

Status: Out on DVD

Plot Summary: Detective John McCane (Willis), with the help of an internet computer nerd (Long), have to stop a nationwide, technological terrorist attack.

Review: Great action movie, hands down. The whole movie is just pure action, right from the beginning. Granted, there were parts that were entirely too far-fetched, but the effects were good enough to just get caught up in it so it didn’t really matter. It was everything that was expected from any Die Hard movie, but it also had the comic relief of Justin Long (not to mention the awesome Kevin Smith cameo). The far-fetched stuff aside, this was one of the best action movies I’ve seen in a really long time.

Hitman

Title: Hitman

Starring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Timothy Olyphant, Dougray Scott, Olga Kurylenko

Genre: Action

Status: In Theaters Now

Plot Summary: An assassin known only as Agent 47 (Olyphant) quickly finds himself in a nasty set-up when he’s hired for a hit on a Russian politician. Now he has to try to figure out how it went wrong, and finish the job.

Review: Surprisingly, this movie was quite entertaining. I’m not a player of the games, so I cannot give you an account of how accurate it was, but as a fan of action flicks, it wasn’t disappointing. There were times that seemed a little slow, and others that were quite confusing. I love it when you don’t know what’s going on until right at the end. Now the entire movie isn’t like this, but the way that he plans out his attacks are like this and very interesting. Overall though, it was a good action flick with just enough depth to keep it interesting, but not too much to take away from the action.

Dan in Real Life

Title: Dan in Real Life

Starring Actor(s)/Actress(es): Steve Carell, Dane Cook, Juliette Binoche

Genre: Comedy

Status: In Theaters Now

Plot Summary: Dan (Carell) is a widower and a advice columnist. While on a family trip he finds a girl, but it turns out to be his brother’s girlfriend.

Review: It wasn’t the normal laugh-out-loud funny that you would expect from Steve Carell, but it was still great. In fact, for the most part I did laugh out loud, but it was more of that awkward situational comedy that is sort of how it is in his show The Office. It was an overall feel-good movie. There really isn’t a whole lot of this movie that I didn’t like. I suppose there were times where it was a little slow, but it didn’t start out slow at all. It’s a great movie for pretty much everybody to see. Highly recommended.

Summary: I think this was the fullest show I’ve ever been too. I’m so surprised we even got in. We didn’t have tickets and when we got there there was a line that would’ve probably went all the way around the building, it there was room. But overall it was a great show.

Set Your Goals: I did not like this band. At all. Their music sounded great, but the singing (if you could call it that) was horrible. There were two singers, but neither could sing very well. It just sounded like they were talking/yelling. There was no rhythm or variation in the vocals. I think they could’ve found a much better opener for such a great line-up.

The Starting Line: I’d heard of these guys, but not really heard any of their stuff before. They were good though, and they were really good with the crowd. The other people that I was with really enjoyed these guys, and I liked them for not knowing any of their stuff.

Paramore: Awesome. This was the reason I went to this show, and I must say they did not disappoint. Hayley is a great frontwoman, and she brings a great sense of energy to the show. It was a great crowd for this, and a really fun mosh pit, surprisingly.
Awesome show, but I really wish the opener was better. The whole first half hour was just boring, mainly because of the of how much I didn’t like the opener. But thankfully, the other two bands really made up for it.
